Not even all the way through as of this writing, but I just had to get on here and say Jason Liebrecht is dead-on as Kenshi Masaki (which proves that if they actually try, FUNi can do a good job at casting roles…even for Tenchi series!) The rest of the characters seem cast well enough as well. Yukine Mare is a personal favorite, and Kristi Bingham (or rather, Kang now?) did an excellent job (I would have probably guessed Caitlin Glass just hearing her at first, as well as considering her portrayal of similar characters such as Yakumo in
School Rumblein the past, but Kristi nailed it). - June 26, 2013 at 4:52 PM

Ryoko’s Stepdad wrote:Here’s the problem with Super Saiyan Ryoko; you’d actually be making her weaker. By far, Ryoko with her three gems is much more powerful. Throw in the fact Tenchi is the avatar of God and essentially either one could wipe Saiyans from history no trouble at all.
True story, folks (sorry the parade got rained on a bit, but a Tenchi fan forum couldn’t go forever without someone pointing that out). Like many other 10 year old boys, I
lovedDBZ back in the day, and as a younger fan of Tenchi, I at first found it difficult to get my mind around it, but it’s true: very few entities in existence could even come close to a three-gemed Ryoko (& those entities are within the Tenchi canon). Buuut…I wouldn’t mind a blonde Ryoko once in a while, to shake things up; she could pull it off

Again, it would seem that Kajishima-sensei might be making some sort of connection, but hey, who knows?
It does make for some fun speculation, doesn’t it?
okay, I know this thread is a bit old, and I myself got a bit off-track when I posted here previously, but as I sit here now watching the recently-released dubbed version of
War on Geminar, I think this is a brilliant observation ForWashuu. The editing here is subtle but tells a lot:
After the shot in which we see the Koro amassed outside the window–clearly drawn by, and fascinated by,
somethingin the room–we have a cut to the first image (shown here, i.e. the microscope/crystal fragment) before a quick cut to the next scene. Yes, it’s speculation, but I for one agree with ForWashuu (at least, I assume the point you were originally making) in that Kajishima is clearly making a connection here between our familiar friend Ryo-Ohki and the Koro of Geminar.

lol Tenchi coming to Geminar would be akin to your older brother in high school coming to help you out with a school-yard bully in kindergarten. He’d be a bit OP’d (Tenchi-kami after all) but a big family reunion would be awesome! I respect Kajishima for limiting the cameos of the main Tenchi cast, but the fan boy in me is always itching for more.

This season I’ve actually been keeping up with several shows as they’ve been airing o’er thar in Japan. Most will be wrapping up in the next week, so unless there’s some ridiculously-ginormous plot twist in the very last episode, I think I can give a quick review for a couple while I’m thinking about it: What I like to call ‘Satan works at McDonald’s’ (a.k.a.
The Devil is a Part-Timer) was one of the most eagerly-awaited new titles for me personally. Having never before read the manga, initially I found the concept and premise to be refreshingly original, but disappointingly less than halfway through, I found the plot growing rather stale, and many of the characters to be, frankly, uninteresting (but I loveAshiya. Spoiler alert, he is “best girl”). Can’t speak for the original work, but based on the anime, seems like they had a novel concept and rather than flesh it out to its appropriate depth, they lapsed into the “conventional anime” treatment/safe approach. Yuyushikicertainly isn’t groundbreaking in concept or premise, but it never claims to be, instead being a fun, fairly-typical adaptation of ‘yuri-esque’ schoolgirls in a loli-saturated environment with a dash of moe for good measure. As someone who lists Azumanga Daiohand Nichijouas some of his personal favorite anime, I thoroughly enjoyed Yuyushikias a mostly-innocent romp through an apparently all-girls’ Japanese high-school, as seen through the brightly-colored lenses of three exuberant, fun-loving (well, ok, maybe only two as far as “fun-loving” goes) girls enjoying what remains of the highlight of life that is childhood. Sure hope that bupkis rumor going around about Yuzuko and Yukari isn’t true!- June 24, 2013 at 9:56 PM

I think it’s kind of a fun thing to muse over. And, much to some Tenchi fan’s chagrin, I don’t think the fact that she’s a “space pirate” with fantastic powers, in a fashion somewhat similar to a certain humanoid race from Toriyama’s universe, went unnoticed by the creators of Tenchi Muyo!… “It’s more common than you think”
😉 Nice job with Ryoko’s super-saiyan do, & as LL said, if you’re into a DBZ/Tenchi crossover, you’ll prob wanna’ check out his work!

Well, what do I think? First impression: it’s amazing you have artistic abilities (2D & 3D) along with your writing skills ( andyou’re a “math guy” on top of that, you’re not playing by the rules of stereotypes, mister) 😎 - June 23, 2013 at 8:17 AM

^I’m looking to do the same, ryokofan. I’ve been scooping up funi’s re-releases at BestBuy, but idk if it’s just my local branch or on a broader scale (the latter more likely) but BestBuy is reeeeeallyscaling back their anime section, maybe even looking to phase it out. Went back recently and saw Geminarbut couldn’t really justify purchasing atm (now I’m thinking I shouldhave) but all the other Tenchi stuff they had only a short while ago–Universe, TiT, movie collection, ova–is all gone. tl;dr I hope I can get my hands on some dinero and then on box set of
Geminarbefore the next cast!
