Interesting you mention that time frame, because I think that’s right around the time the creator of the show quit (or retired, or whatever the right word is) no doubt being set up for life monetarily, leaving some other folks at Nickelodeon to take over coming up with material, which imo has resulted in a deterioration of quality (I don’t watch Spongebob like I used to, but I’ve seen some within the last 5 years, you watch one of those and then one from early 2000’s it’s like night & day)

& if you’d like Shad, no reason you couldn’t start said thread under Chit Chat if you felt like it. Chit Chat is for whatever!

has anyone else on this thread now seen connections between the Washu and Mihoshi and Dexter’s Laboratory – a short ‘child’ genius in a secret laboratory hidden away in a house making wondorous machines always to be thwarted by a dumb blonde that can somehow always get into the lab and with the simple push of a button … boom.

    Excellent observation! If I may:

    …but I digress.

Great idea for a topic! So many great cartoons from when I was a ‘knee high to a grasshopper’ many of which were already mentioned, and many of which admittedly I would also have difficulty separating whether they were in fact from the 90’s or early 2000’s (such as Grim Adv. Billy & Mandy, & Courage the Cowardly Dog).

Johnny Bravo one of my favs, & while I’m thinking of CN, I loved Ed Edd n Eddy (which again prob 2000’s but oh well). Recess was another good one, kudos for bringing it up Silver.

Ren & Stimpy–classic, yet watching it again recently, can’t believe it was a kid’s show lol

Re-watched Trigun ep.14 yesterday.I like the fact that Millie and Meryl are played in the Japanese by

Inuyasha’s Kagome and KOR’s Madoka respectively. :washu: :washu: :washu:

Funny you mention Trigun. I just picked up Badlands Rumble & although I’m sad to hear not all the English voice cast made it back, I’m still looking forward to seeing the characters of Trigun getting a bit of a modern makeover over ten years later.

Also currently [slowly] going through Stand Alone Complex with my roommates (amazingly, I’ve never actually finished this series, so thank you Netflix). It’s a great series in ever way imo (futuristic black ops, hot female cyborg lead, robots with Sasami’s voice? What’s not to like?) It’s also interesting to see not only good overall storyarcs, but in many individual episodes (it’s very episodic in nature, meaning not every episode directly advances a larger plot) it’s really fun to see the writers or director (whoever is responsible in each case) creating little homages and shoutouts to other films, such as an episode reminiscent of Ocean’s 11, and another undoubtedly paying tribute to Wender’s film Der Himmel ΓΌber Berlin. (Goes to show great directors–or writers, or anything for that matter–don’t pull ideas from nowhere; we’re all influenced and inspired by things we experience, so it’s not only fun but also really shows class on the parts of filmmakers to not only acknowledge whom they were inspired by, but also to do so in ways that are unique and subtle, & ways that only other filmmakers/film enthusiasts would know (well, more so in the days before the internet that is lol)

What if AIC never approved Kajishima’s proposal that ultimately became Tenchi?

gasp! We all would never have met! A horrendous thought indeed. Wow what a cool thought. A much younger Kajishima, energetic and filled with enthusiasm and fresh ideas, fervently pitching his idea, hoping it would get produced & made a reality (I can relate lol)

Something else I thought of.; if Kiyone got promoted and stayed at GP.. wouldn’t she be dead when TMIL came around? O_O

Wow scary thought. In hindsight, perhaps she owes Mihoshi a ‘thank you’ & shows that Mihoshi’s um, ‘Mihoshi-ness’ is perhaps as natural a force of the universe as gravity. Everything balances out. πŸ˜†

What if Ryoko (when first on earth) had defeated and killed Yosho? NO TENCHI! 😯

Agree with evilpii, very fun & clever. I literally lol’d when I read the part about ‘buy your own sake & stop blaming a 7 year old kid!’ πŸ˜†
