I wonder if we shall ever see a reprint of the manga or any rescue from the abyss of OOPdom.

Sadly I don’t think that there’s much interest in the Tenchi manga anymore. Viz’s license also has probably expired by now, and I can’t see them renewing the rights.

In order for there to be enough interest we would need to get Tenchi back on TV again. And when I say Tenchi I mean Classic Tenchi(OVA 1&2, Tenchi Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo)that aired on Toonami.

I know that right now Toonami is showing Tenchi GXP but that really isn’t what the fans want.

You know the other day I was thinking about how there were really no pictures of the guy other then one shot of the back of his head, and now we have this.

Funny how things turn out time-wise.

So I decided to (finally) start the Manga, and originally I was going to hold off on posting until I got through the first series, but after only 1 volume in, all I have to say is

Why wasn’t this ever animated? lol Why? In 1 volume its impressed me on a whole number of levels, both bluntly and subtlely that I can’t help but think “Why is this not still in print?” I know this is only the beginning too, man, why did I wait so long to read this? lol happyblueplz

I’m kind of surprised that you of all people waited so long Dagon. 😆

Personally I really enjoyed reading the Tenchi manga. I love the manga characters especially Minagi.

Okuda’s art style makes the characters look really cute.

I remember reading these on the Tenchi Zone site back in 2008 when I got back into Tenchi.

    They’re ok. Nothing special.

Let’s just say that Ryoko wasn’t wearing her make-up that day when Tenchi met her in the cave. 😆

Personally I like the character designs of the first two OVAs, and Tenchi Universe the most.

I also have a soft spot for the character designs of Tenchi in Tokyo, and I feel that the designs get a lot of unfair hate. I also wonder what Yugi would look like in the OVA and TU art styles.

I have mixed feelings on the character designs in Tenchi Forever, and I dislike the OVA 3 character designs.

I’m enjoying the new Toonami so far. Both Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins are great shows. It’s too bad that Deadman Wonderland is over.

I think part of Tokyo‘s appeal in the end is its capability for future development. With the family just sorted together again but still not quite as sane as in the OVA, and the possibility of Yugi either growing into or bringing back Sakuya once she wakes up from her seal, it feels like a story that’s waiting for a sequel more than the OVA or Universe are.

I agree. Tenchi in Tokyo‘s ending really feels like it was designed for future stories somewhere down the road. Giving how the show ends with Yugi sleeping I’ve always wondered if there had been plans at one time to make a TIT movie.
